Man leads police on bicycle pursuit

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WANE) – Indiana State Police have arrested a man in Terre Haute after he took a bike from a store and led them on a pursuit Friday night.

Police were called to a sporting goods store just before 9:30 p.m. on reports of a suspicious person. When they arrived, an employee told them that the suspect, 24-year-old Camron Banghart, had taken a bike from the store and fled the scene.

Authorities located Banghart and he lead them on a chase through several parking lots and across U.S. 41. Banghart then got off the bike and attempted to hide from police in another parking lot. Police found them hiding under a vehicle and arrested him for resisting law enforcement.

During the investigation, police discovered that Banghart had an active warrant in Clay County for a probation violation. He was then taken to the Vigo County Jail where he is currently being detained.
