Man sentenced to 30 years for crash that killed 2

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man has been sentenced for a deadly 2019 crash, according to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.

The office announced Dataniel Gilbert received 30 years after pleading guilty to counts of failure to remain at the scene of an accident resulting in death.

On Sept. 30, 2019, a blue pickup truck, driven by Gilbert ran a stop light in the area of East 38th Street and North Keystone Avenue. Due to disregarding the traffic signal, Gilbert struck another vehicle, resulting in the deaths of Delaney Frye and Nic Hatfield.

Witnesses said Gilbert, who was ejected from the truck, fled the scene of the crash. Police said Gilbert had a BAC of 0.179%.
