Man shot in head in east side shooting dies

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man died from a shot in the head Saturday, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

According to dispatch, the victim was shot in the head in the 2600 block of North Bazil Avenue just after 6:30 Saturday morning.

Police said the victim was 21-year-old Alexis Gomez.

He was transported to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

IMPD says people in the house were awakened by a gunshot.  It was at that time, when victim stumbled out from a room saying he had been shot.
