Man who robbed CVS dressed as woman gets 15 years prison

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man who police say robbed a CVS Pharmacy dressed as a woman was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison Wednesday, according to court documents.

Glen Robert Wines, Jr., 46, pleaded guilty to charges of robbery and possession of a firearm by an armed career criminal.

Wines walked into the CVS at 7915 South Emerson Ave. wearing a straw hat, gray dress, red cardigan sweater and sunglasses back on July 21, 2013, court documents state. He handed employees a note that said, in part, “Don’t be stupid, I have a gun.”

Employees gave him a brown paper bags with prescription pills. Wines, who had multiple prior felony convictions, fled but was quickly caught by police. Officers found the stolen drugs as well as a loaded handgun.

“A mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years is reserved for the worst-of-the-worst,” said Attorney Josh J. Minkler said. “After being convicted of multiple violent felonies, Wines chose to commit an armed robbery of a pharmacy. He deserves every day of the 15 year mandatory minimum sentence.”
