Man who threatened federal witness gets 13-year sentence
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – An Indianapolis man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for threatening a federal witness with a sawed-off shotgun following his mother’s drug-related arrest
A federal judge in Indianapolis sentenced 21-year-old Logan Mediate on Thursday.
Mediate had pleaded guilty to tampering with a federal witness and possession of a sawed-off shotgun in furtherance of a crime of violence.
He’ll face five years of supervised release after completing his prison sentence.
A month after Mediate’s mother was arrested in 2012 on a methamphetamine charge, federal prosecutors say he threatened to kill the federal witness, accusing that person of providing information that led to her arrest.
Prosecutors say Mediate pointed a sawed-off shotgun at the informant, discharged a round into the air and repeated his threat to kill the informant.
