UPDATE: On Thursday evening, the Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the male victim as 24-year-old Nathaniel Brooks.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A homicide investigation is underway after a body was found Wednesday in a backyard on the east side, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said. 

IMPD East District officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of North Gladstone Avenue just before noon Wednesday after a man’s body was found in the backyard of a home. Medics confirmed the man was dead at the scene. 

Details surrounding how the man died were not released. 

Homicide detectives were called to the area and began canvassing for witnesses and collecting potential forensic evidence.
