From clearer skin to energy boosts, here’s why drinking water is good for you

Promotes weight loss

If you’re looking to lose a few pounds, swap energy drinks for water. Not only do you avoid the added sugar, but water has no calories.

Keeps headaches away

Water not only flows through your body, but also in the brain. When the brain lacks adequate fluid it shrinks, which causes it to pull away from the skull. This results in a throbbing pain known as a dehydration headache. Once fluid is replenished, the headache should go away.

Reduces wrinkles and prevents acne

Proper intake leads to a plumper, more youthful looking complexion by boosting skin elasticity. Elasticity is the skin’s ability “to stretch and snap back to its original shape.” Additionally, water eliminates toxins from the body. Drinking more water is linked to less acne and clogged pores.

Boosts focus, concentration and energy

Seventy-five percent of the brain is made up of water. Drinking adequate amounts is linked to increased alertness, concentration and energy. It’s also a natural mood booster.
