MIAMI (WISH) — The City of Miami has gone seven weeks without a single murder. The last time the city reported that statistic was in 1957.

The Miami Police Department released the information, saying stay at home orders are playing a role.

According to the Police Chief Jorge Colina, the trend started before social distancing was put in place and lockdowns were in effect.

Miami did not report a homicide from Feb. 17 to April 12.

Police say other crimes in the city have also decreased.
