Tarkington Park Fest 2019
Saturday, June 1, West 40th Street, 8 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Tarkington Park located at 3967 N. Illinois Street, is part of the City of Indianapolis Indy Parks system located in the heart of Midtown Indianapolis. This 10-acre park serves as a gathering place for families, neighbors, and friends from economically and socially diverse neighborhoods that border the park and has done so for generations. In 2017, nearly $6 million was invested in a modern playscape, a café and restroom facility, a splash plaza, a performance shelter, and basketball courts.

The vision for an upgraded and active Tarkington Park was made a reality through collaboration with park users, neighbors, stakeholders, and community-building organizations. In 2019, the City of Indianapolis entered into an agreement with the Indianapolis Parks Foundation to manage Tarkington Park operations, maintenance, and programming in collaboration with Midtown Indy and the MLK Center. This unique community collaboration will continue free and public use of Tarkington Park while leveraging the resources of its partners to sustain a clean, safe, creative, and engaging park. The 2019 Tarkington Park Fest is the activating, engaging, summer and neighbor welcoming first annual celebration of this place, these neighbors, and this collaborative programming effort.
