Missing camper’s body found along east-central Indiana river

ALBANY, Ind. (AP) – Police have found the remains of a 25-year-old man who vanished in early March after going camping along an east-central Indiana river during frigid weather.

The Star Press reports Benjamin L. Anderson’s body was found Monday in a wooded area along the Mississinewa River about 10 miles northeast of Muncie.

Authorities theorize the Albany man likely succumbed to the elements, perhaps suffering hypothermia while camping on the night of March 6-7, when temperatures fell to near zero degrees.

Albany Police Chief Shannon Henry said Wednesday there were no indications Anderson was a victim of foul play. Toxicology results from an autopsy are pending.

Henry says Anderson had a backpack and supplies and had “built a shelter out of limbs and leaves.” He was last seen on March 6.
