Mom of teen killed while texting and driving speaks to students
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Ben Davis High School students were reminded of the dangers of texting while driving Friday morning.
St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital trauma and emergency department says they continue to see the life-threatening impacts of texting when behind the wheel.
Through video presentations and speakers, the department urged students to put their phones down when they drive.
Jodi Comer, a mother who lost her daughter due to texting while driving also spoke with the students today. Comer lost her daughter Emily Huntington on Dec. 30, 2011 when she was a senior at Jac-Cen-Del High School.
St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital encouraged students to take the “Drive Now Text Later” pledge.
