INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Here’s a look at Monday’s business headlines.

Unemployment

Indiana’s jobless rate rose to 3.4 percent in July.

While it was a gain, it is well below the national unemployment rate of 3.9 percent.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development says the state lost jobs in mining and logging and information technology.

Still, Indiana does have the 15th lowest jobless rate in the nation.

Salaries

U.S. worker salaries are about to break out of a decade-long slump.

At least that’s according to Willis Towers Watson Data Services.

It says the tightening labor market and economic recovery will spur companies to confidently raise salaries and pay bigger bonuses.

Moving

Fewer Americans are moving around the country to pursue new work opportunities.

About 3.5 million Americans relocated for a new job last year, according to census data, a 10 percent drop from 3.8 million in 2015.

Better jobs at home and reluctance to uproot kids are the reasons people are staying put.

Facebook

Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson is accusing tech behemoth Facebook of housing discrimination.

He says the social media giant allows landlords and home sellers access to advertising tools that limit which prospective buyers or tenants can view certain online ads based on race, religion, sex, disability and other characteristics.

It can do this through the massive amount of data it collects.

Facebook says it will respond in court.
