Mooresville student comes up with way to celebrate, recognize prom
MOORESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A local high school senior created a driveway prom video to give her friends the chance to finally wear their dresses.
Olivia Brimmage says prom was supposed to be on April 25 but has been canceled due to the nation wide pandemic.
She came up with this idea after seeing some male students dancing in their driveway on Tik-Tok.
Brimmage asked her friends to get ready, put on their dresses and run outside dancing.
She says most teenage girls look forward to their prom.
The dresses are expensive and sometimes it takes quite a search to find the perfect one.
Which is why Brimmage said she wanted to make this video. She wanted to give her friends the chance to feel beautiful.
“It’s a time to feel pretty and have fun and as we get older we don’t get a lot of those,” she said. “We look forward to dances in high school and we don’t continue to get those. It’s a fun time to be with your friends one last time and it’s one last dance with your friends that you may not see as much anymore.”
Brimmage said she posted the video on every social media outlet with the hashtag “Ellen Prom.” Talk show host Ellen Degeneres encouraged high school students across the country to post pictures in their prom dresses.
High school administration saw the video and plan to put it on the school website.
