More businesses reopen as Phase 2 continues for much of Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Monday began another step toward a new normal for people living outside Marion, Lake and Cass counties.

Stage 2 of the Back on Track Indiana plan has the state fully open by July 4.

Starting May 11, personal care services including hair salons, barbers, nail salons and tattoo parlors can open their doors again by appointment only. Work stations will have to remain at a safe distance and employees will be wearing face masks.

Restaurants can also open Monday at 50% capacity with a six person limit at each table. Officials say servers and kitchen staff must also wear face masks and delivery and pick-up is still encouraged.

The Bureau of Motor Vehicles is opening 128 branches Monday by appointment only. Though officials are asking people to first try completing activities like renewing a license online first.

Lake and Marion counties are allowed to begin Stage 2 Monday a week after the rest of the state started their Stage 2. Marion County is under a stay-at-home order through May 15.

Cass County will begin Stage 2 on May 18.

Gov. Eric Holcomb has laid out Back On Track Indiana based on a four-point data plan and is subject to change.

In the meantime, residents are recommended to wear face masks when in public.
