Mother and infant killed, father injured after large tree felled by Florence crushes home
WILMINGTON, N.C. (NEXSTAR) – A mother and infant were killed Friday after a large tree fell on a house in Wilmington Friday morning from Hurricane Florence, officials said.
The Wilmington Police Department said the mother and child were trapped inside the Mercer Ave home by the tree, which fell around 9:30 a.m.
Officials said the child’s father was rescued from the home and transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
Two other storm-related deaths have been reported–in Pender County, NC, a woman in cardiac arrest died after first responders were unable to reach her because of debris, and in Lenoir County, a man was killed while pulling in a generator.
