Mother arrested after 3 children found ‘extremely neglected’ in home
DANIELSON, Conn. (WTNH)- State police have arrested a woman on child neglect charges after her three children were found malnourished, still in diapers, and unable to talk in a Danielson home.
Police say on July 21st, they received a call from the Department of Children & Families reporting the neglect of three children in a Danielson home. The report indicated that 24-year-old Nicolas Emory and 33-year-old Donna Rodeheffer had three children, ages 3, 5, and 6, who were found to be missing teeth, malnourished, dehydrated, in diapers and unable to talk.
The children were taken into the care of DCF and state police launched an investigation. After speaking with family members, police learned that the children had rarely left the home and had never been enrolled at school. They also found that the children were underweight and extremely neglected.
On Tuesday, Rodeheffer turned herself into police. She was charged with three counts of risk of injury to a minor and negligent cruelty to persons. She was held on $150,000 bond and was in court on Tuesday.
Emory is currently being held as a fugitive from justice in Arizona on child pornography charges stemming from an investigation by the Connecticut State Police. Upon his rendition, Emory will also be charged with child neglect, as well as the child pornography charges.
The incident remains under investigation.
