Much needed rain chances possible over next few days

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We’re in desperate need of some rain around central Indiana. Several rounds of showers and storms will be possible through early in the work week.

Today:

Already a cluster of showers working through the state this morning will provide a few areas with light rain through mid morning. Better chances for showers and storms will arrive by mid to late afternoon.

There is a level 1 (marginal risk) for severe storms this afternoon for southeastern portions of the state. Damaging wind is the primary concern.

Highs top out in the middle 80s.

Tonight:

Scattered showers and storms continue across the area, gradually diminishing to the east as we close in on daybreak.

Lows fall to the upper 60s and lower 70s

Monday:

Another chance for scattered showers and storms, mainly in the afternoon and evening hours.

Highs hit the upper 80s.

How much rain?

Likely not enough to make up for the dry stretch we’ve had. In fact, there will be some areas that may not see much at all. Rainfall amounts will, unfortunately be quite sporadic across the area, so with that, numbers could range from a few tenths to as high as one inch through Tuesday afternoon.

8 day forecast:

A cold front will bring more scattered showers and storms to the area on Tuesday. Drier and slightly cooler air settles in Wednesday through Friday afternoon. More rain chances will arrive Friday night into the start of next weekend.
