Muggy and stormy afternoon

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Strong storm chances return for Sunday afternoon.

Today:

A pleasant start to the morning will quickly turn wet for some, and much more humid for everyone later. Storm complex to our west will eject into western Indiana this morning, sparking showers and storms west of Indy for the morning hours. Those likely fall apart as they continue to push east, but an isolated shower or storm around the metro area this morning can’t be ruled out.Warm front will push through late this morning, opening the door for much more muggy conditions across the area. With that, thunderstorm development is likely heading into the middle/late afternoon and evening.

Some storms later this afternoon could be severe, with damaging wind the primary concern. Heavy rain will also be a threat, so flooding remains a high concern across the area.

High temperatures top out in the middle 80s

Tonight:

Scattered storms still around through the early to mid-evening hours. We’ll lose our severe weather risk as we move into the late evening hours, but scattered shower chances will likely remain heading into the overnight.

Monday:

A mix of sun and clouds through much of the day. We’ll get a few storms developing in the afternoon. Dynamics strong enough in the eastern portion of the state to warrant a marginal risk for severe storms, with hail and strong winds possible.

Highs top out around 80°

8 day forecast:

Dry weather finally settles in starting Monday night, and we should have a nice extended stretch of quiet conditions through much of the week. We’ll also heat things up quite a bit with near normal/slightly above normal temperatures. With that, still possible for a rogue shower/storm each day, but few and far between.
