NASA observatory captures solar phenomenon
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – NASA shared some fascinating video this week that was taken of the sun back in December.
According to the administration’s post, a dark solar filament above the sun’s surface became unstable and erupted on Dec. 16-17, 2015, generating a cascade of magnetic arches.
NASA says the video, which was captured by its Solar Dynamics Observatory, was taken in extreme ultraviolet wavelengths of 193 angstroms, which is a type of light that’s typically invisible to our eyes. In the video, it’s colorized in bronze so we can see it.
