National support builds for revolutionary Multicultural Media Producing Program

INDIANAPOLIS – March 23, 2023 – DuJuan McCoy, Owner, President, and CEO of Circle City Broadcasting(parent company of WISH-TV and MyINDY-TV 23) today announced that The National Association of Broadcasters Leadership Foundation (NABLF) and CBS News and Stations have joined in supporting the Multicultural Media Producing Program (MMPP).

The MMPP, an ongoing technical school curriculum, aims to train today’s students to become tomorrow’s news producers and media leaders. The one-year certificate program at Ivy Tech Community College Indianapolis was created in partnership with JPMorgan Chase, Circle City Broadcasting, and the DuJuan and Tina McCoy Foundation.  At the completion of one year of the program, MMPP will have 40 certified and qualified news producers ready to hire by our industry TV stations.

“We are delighted to support MMPP,” said Michelle Duke, President of NABLF. “This program fits our foundation’s mission of improving diversity in all aspects of broadcasting while creating the next generation of leaders in our business. We look forward to being a part of this innovative industry-wide program.”

CBS News and Stations is honored to back this wonderful initiative that is helping to address a critical need in the hiring pipeline for local stations like ours who want to recruit producers and future newsroom leaders,” said Wendy McMahon, President and Co-Head, CBS News and Stations. “The training provided by the MMPP is paving the way for the next generation of storytellers who want to answer a higher calling and join the ranks of journalists who serve the greater good of our communities. Our goal is to see the MMPP students of today become members of the CBS News and Stations family in the near future. We also hope to see other colleges adopt similar programs and create an even bigger impact across our industry.”
