Arizona man dies after deputies find him ‘covered in bees’ in front yard

YUMA, Ariz. (WCMH) — An Arizona man died Sunday after deputies found him in his front yard covered in bees.

According to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a report that a man was being stung by numerous bees shortly before 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Investigators said the man went to his back yard to remove a beehive from a couch when the bees became agitated and started stinging him. The man then ran to his front yard, where he was eventually located by deputies.

Firefighters sprayed the man with water to allow first responders to get to him. The victim, Epigmenio Gonzalez, 51, of Yuma, was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A woman was also hospitalized with numerous bee stings.

Several deputies and firefighters were also stung but did not require medical attention.
