INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A seafood company based out of Oregon has issued a nationwide recall over concerns some of their products may be contaminated with bacteria.

BORNSTEIN SEAFOODS, INC is voluntarily recalling its canned salmon, sardines, sturgeon, and tuna because it may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium that can cause life-threatening illness or death.

The recalled items have codes starting with “OC” and were sold to retail and online customers through Sept. 2015.

According to the FDA, consumers shouldn’t use the product even if it doesn’t look or smell spoiled.

No illnesses have been reported yet, but the bacteria can cause a number of symptoms.
