Sheriff: 8-year-old boy steals car at knifepoint

CROFTON, Ky. (WKRN) – An 8-year-old boy accused of threatening his babysitter with a knife and later stealing her car Friday in Christian County, Ky., was captured not far from the scene.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded around 9 a.m. to McBride Lane north of Crofton.

The babysitter told deputies that the boy, armed with a knife, stole her car but only made it a few yards before the vehicle became stuck, investigators said.

Deputies reported the 8-year-old was taken to Cumberland Hall Hospital, a mental facility, for evaluation following the incident.

It is not clear if the child will be charged.
