Truck wreck in Amarillo spills tons of beer, bottles

AMARILLO, Texas (AP) – A load of bottled beer has ended up in a Texas landfill after a truck hauling tons of the brew overturned and the cargo broke and spilled.

Amarillo police say the driver suffered minor injuries in the accident Wednesday morning. Authorities say the driver, who apparently took a turn too quickly, will face a traffic citation.

The Amarillo Globe-News reports the 18-wheeler was hauling tons of beer, glass bottles, pallets, crates and other items.

City environmental official Shaun May says none of the beer could be salvaged after the wreck.

Cleanup lasted several hours. The messy debris was hauled to the Amarillo landfill.
