Neighbors rattled after couple finds hidden camera in Indy apartment

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Neighbors are on edge in a northeast side apartment complex after a couple found a hidden camera in their apartment. The couple found the camera in their bathroom vent Sunday, according to IMPD.

It happened at the Northampton Village Apartments near 38th Street and Shadeland Avenue. Police said they don’t know who put the camera in the vent.

The couple that reported the crime didn’t answer their door Monday.

Their neighbor, Cassandra Cullen, spent her day digging through her bathroom vents.

“I was totally shocked. It makes me scared. I have a young son, so it makes me insecure in my own house,” Cullen said.

A police report said a woman noticed a loose vent while preparing to take a bath. The woman asked her husband to fix the vent and he found a small camera, wires and a battery. The couple called police and, according to IMPD, a detective also saw the camera.

Just a couple doors down, Cullen shared a message for the property managers.

“I think they need to hire someone outside to check everyone’s vents,” Cullen said. “People are not going to want to live here if they don’t feel safe in their apartment.”

The couple told police they plan to speak to the apartment manager.

When asked about the case, people working in the management office Monday told 24-Hour News 8 to leave.

“I think they do need to look more into it,” Cullen said. “Get something done about it. Inform everybody.”
