New charges filed in case against Kyle Parker; state seeks life without parole

OWEN COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — The Owen County Prosecutor is seeking life without parole for an accused child killer.

Kyle Parker was charged with the murder of 15-month-old Shaylyn Ammerman in March.

On Monday, Owen County Prosecutor Donald VanDerMoere filed to add five additional counts to Parker’s charges.

VanDerMoere said the new counts are alleged aggravating circumstances. He said if Parker is found guilty, he will seek to prove one or more of the aggravating circumstances and make Parker eligible for life without parole.

Parker is due back in court for a pretrial conference on October 5.

Additionally, Parker has sent a letter to the judge in the case requesting to be moved from Owen County to a Department of Correction holding facility.
