New Indy co-working space aims to help minority entrepreneurs grow their businesses

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A first of its kind co-working space aimed at minority-owned businesses is opening Wednesday in downtown Indianapolis.

Located on East Market Street next to City Market, Chamber 465 is an effort led by The Indy Black Chamber of Commerce (IBCC).

“This is more than a space. We will have workshops and classes to help these black-owned and women-owned businesses with their bottom line,” said Larry Williams, president of IBCC.

Williams says every Wednesday Chamber 465 will host attorneys and CPAs to give advice to members.

Membership costs $180 a month which includes space, WiFi, and printers but Williams notes the first few months will be a test drive.

“We want people to try it out, to see if this is for them, and if it is and they need help then we will work with them,” Williams said.

Members are encouraged to share resources and ideas to help each other grow and succeed.

Chamber stands for Cohort Helping All Minority Businesses Enhance Revenue and 465 the interstate circling the city.

The Indy Black Chamber of Commerce says COVID-19 requirements have been met and workplaces have been set up for social distancing.

Anyone inside the building is required to wear a face mask.

City leaders are coming together for a grand opening Wednesday at 12 p.m.

On Thursday, Oct. 15 Chamber 465 is hosting an informational opening for the public from 5 to 8 p.m.
