Noblesville announces new $15 million fieldhouse
NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) – The city of Noblesville announced the proposal of a $15 million youth sports facility Tuesday.
The Noblesville Fieldhouse will be located at Finch Creek Park on Boden Road.
The 130,000 square foot facility would include five hardwood courts, 75,000 square feet of indoor turf and a physical therapy office.
“It’s a big deal,” Noblesville Mayor John Ditslear said. “We’ve had a fair amount of big deals, but this is a big deal. We’re very excited about it.”
“I would absolutely tell you that Hamilton County is the spot for youth sports in the United States,” Klipsch-Card Athletic Facilities Co-President & CEO Andy Card said. “There’s nothing else like it in the United States.”
When completed, the Fieldhouse will house volleyball and basketball tournaments.
The indoor turn will be used for baseball and softball practice as well as soccer, flag football and lacrosse games.
The facility will also have concession areas, a balcony overlooking the playing surfaces and high definition cameras to watch all the action on the courts and turf.
It’s not the first indoor sports complex to come to Hamilton County. This year, Westfield opened a $9 million fieldhouse and $20 million indoor soccer arena. In response to Noblesville’s decision, Westfield sent 24-Hour News 8 a statement.
The new fieldhouse in Noblesville will be a great complement to our existing sports infrastructure in Hamilton County. Youth sports tourism is an $8 billion industry worldwide so we believe there is ample opportunity. By working together, this new facility may even allow us the ability to attract additional events and visitors, which is a benefit to the whole region’s economy.
Noblesville city council will vote on the proposal next week. If approved, construction could begin in 2017, with it being finished by 2018.
