Norfolk PD responds to Texas force’s lip sync battle with epic ‘Uptown Funk’ rendition

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police departments across the country are challenging each other to lip sync battles, and Norfolk PD’s rendition of Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” might be up there with the very best.

The department released the video Monday afternoon, and about an hour after being posted to Facebook it already had more than 11,000 shares and 8,000 likes.

Norfolk was challenged by the Corinth Police Department in Texas, which is just north of Dallas-Fort Worth.

Corinth’s video, set to Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the U.S.A.,” became viral in large part due to “Officer Dreamboat,” who’s showcased right at the beginning of the video.

It’s been viewed on Facebook almost 10 million times.

The Corinth PD joked on social media that, despite several inquiries into his marital status, that “Officer Kirkwood, AKA ‘Dreamboat,’ is off the market.”

They also said they loved Norfolk’s version: “Norfolk PD responded to the challenge and brought their A game! Great song, great choreography but they still don’t have Officer Dreamboat!”

Norfolk is now challenging the Virginia Beach Police Department, the Norfolk Constabulary, the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Dept. and the Seattle Police Department.
