Owen County commissioner facing felony charges in truck sale

SPENCER, Ind. (WISH) — The president of the Owen County Commissioners faces a couple charges after it is believed he made profit by approving of a truck sale to the county.

The charges against Donald Minnick date back to 2012, where officials believe he resold a truck to the county by transferring the title to an employee and making a profit.

Records show that Mark Brewer sold a 1997 Mack semitractor to the Owen County Highway Department for $6,000 and the exchange of a 1987 Freightliner.

After the sell to the county, officials began scanning over paperwork and became suspicious.

Records show that although a check was cashed at an area bank, Brewer did not have accounts there. It was later learned that the check had been deposited into an account belonging to Minnick.

Minnick faces felony charges of official misconduct and conflict of interest.
