Pacers sign Myles Turner to extension ahead of season opener

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Pacers tip off the season Wednesday night at home against Memphis.

“It never gets old you know, it’s my sixth year in the league, and you still get the anxiousness same excitement every year,” said Victor Oladipo.

“It’s here now and everybody is excited for the opener to get started and to play that first real game that counts,” said Head Coach Nate McMillan.

The Pacers season opener isn’t the only thing making headlines with this team. Center Myles Turner just signed a four-year contract extension worth $72 million. He says that gives him a major confidence boost heading into the year.

“Just to know how much the organization believes in my potential, believes in my skill set, believes  in me as a person around this community. I’m very excited to be able to come to terms and both come to agreements,” said Myles Turner.

The Pacers showed Myles Turner some love. Now he wants to return the favor to the city.

“This city doesn’t have a championship, has never won a championship. Some people say it sounds crazy, but we talk about that internally everyday that’s our drive, that’s our motivation,” said Turner.

“He’s here for what the next…five years. I’m here for the next three so I told him we’re called the life time team. We need to see how many people we can get on board,” said Oladipo.
