Pedestrian dies after struck by truck on North High School Road

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police are investigating a fatality of a pedestrian from what was dispatched Monday night as a personal-injury accident on the city’s northwest side.

A 45-year-old man was trying to cross the street when he was struck and killed by a pickup truck, police said. The driver, who told police he did not see the man crossing the street, is cooperating with police.

The driver is being taken for a blood draw as required by state law, police said. However, a captain for Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department called it simply a tragic accident.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was dispatched about 6:40 p.m. to North High School Road at Westhaven Drive. That’s in a commercial area with Dollar General and Home Depot stores north of 38th Street.
