Pedestrian struck, killed on Indy’s northwest side
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials say a pedestrian died after being struck on the northwest side of Indianapolis on Thursday.
Police say the accident happened at 9:30 p.m. along 16th Street.
The pedestrian was crossing 16th Street when he was hit by a car. The victim died at the scene.
Police say the driver stayed at the scene and told them that they didn’t see the victim crossing the street. The driver was shaken up but they do not believe they were intoxicated, according to IMPD.
16th Street was closed between Lafayette Road and Belleview Place while IMPD investigated the scene.
