Pence requests federal money for counties affected by flooding

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – 19 Indiana counties that experienced heavy rain from early June to late July may soon receive help from the federal government.

This after Indiana Governor Mike Pence requested federal grants to aid in the recovery of the affected counties.

If the request is granted, the money will be coming from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The FEMA public grants are to be used by local governments to rebuild damaged roads, bridges, utilities, buildings, and other such items that may have incurred damaged due to the rain.

The proposed grants will help cover 75 percent of the damage.

Those counties for which the money has been requested are Adams, Allen, Benton, Clark, Fulton, Huntington, Jay, Jefferson, Jennings, Marshall, Newton, Pulaski, Scott, Vermillion, Wabash, Warren, Washington, and Wells.
