Pence: Second consultant set to help with ISTEP+ testing

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Gov. Pence held a press conference Wednesday to discuss ISTEP+ testing.  Pence said that State School Superintendent, Glenda Ritz, has agreed to cooperate and find ways to shorten the test.

During the event, Pence said he was open to legislation to change testing requirements. He also said that he has talked with U.S. Education Secretary, Arne Duncan, and requested flexibility from the Federal Government.

The governor went on to say he would ensure the ISTEP+ test will be made shorter.

Pence also announced a second consultant will look at making ISTEP+ shorter.  He said that preliminary recommendations will be revealed at Friday’s State Board of Education meeting.
