Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue set to to visit Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) — U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue will make several stops Monday in Indianapolis. During his trip, Perdue will visit the WorkOne Indy center to observe classes and participate in other events focusing on the SNAP Employment & Training program.

Perdue will be speaking in a “What’s Your Story: Preparing for the Interview” class and will meet with SNAP E+T job training participants to hear their experiences and success with the programs. Students will also have to opportunity to engage in a question and answer period with Perdue. 

The Snap E+T program, according to the USDA website, “helps SNAP participants gain skills, training, or work experience to increase their ability to obtain regular employment that leads to economic self-sufficiency.”

Also during his visit, Perdue will participate in a “fireside chat” at the National Grain and Feed Association Country Elevator Conference in downtown Indianapolis. He will be joined by NGFA President Randy Gordon for the discussion.

Later in the afternoon, Perdue will sit down with Indiana State Department of Agriculture Director Bruce Kettler for a conservation roundtable at the Purdue Research Park of Indianapolis.
