Man accused of fatally stabbing his mom shot downtown

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police are investigating a downtown shooting that injured a man accused of stabbing his mother to death Sunday night in Speedway.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to the intersection of Pennsylvania and Maryland streets around 6:30 p.m. Monday on a report of a person shot.

A person, later identified as Vinson Edge, was shot in the leg and was awake and breathing. He was taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital and was stable, according to police.

The suspects in the shooting remained at the scene and were also connected to the investigation into Edge’s mother’s death.

Speedway police around 9:30 p.m. Sunday found 58-year-old Vickie Edge in the 5400 block of White Horse Road. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Vinson Edge was announced Monday morning as a suspect in the stabbing, and Speedway police on Monday evening said he was in custody.
