Person shot at west side Wal-Mart parking lot

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to a shooting on the city’s west side Wednesday night.

IMPD dispatch confirms a person was shot near West 10th Street and Westbury North Drive in the Wal-Mart parking lot around 7:30 p.m.

According to IMPD, a call came in for the report of shots fired at the Wal-Mart. A few minutes later a call came in for a person shot in the 5600 block of Whitcomb Terrace.

The victim told police he was shot at the Wal-Mart parking lot. He was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition, according to IMPD.

Police located the victim’s vehicle with numerous bullet holes.

IMPD said they do not believe this is a random act and that the suspect and victim knew each other. However, the investigation was ongoing.

A potential suspect was taken into police custody.
