Plainfield teen faces adult rape charges involving 2 students

PLAINFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — A Plainfield 17-year-old teen is being charged as an adult with two counts of rape involving students at his school, according to court documents.

Levi Stewart formerly attended Plainfield High School. The charges came after Plainfield police interviewed three girls and one woman who knew Stewart from school, dated him or both.

The girls and woman related stories of Stewart sexually harassing them and pressuring them to have sex or perform sex acts. Incidents happened at the town’s Hummel Park, The Shops at Perry Crossing or local homes. the probable cause affidavit said. One girl described Stewart as “super manipulative” and “really nice when he’s not mad at her.”

Police began discussing Stewart in August after a report of an alleged sexual assault was made at the school. The affidavit said an anonymous report through the high school’s tip line indicated Stewart was going to be in a fight with a male student at school “because he was tired of Levi putting these female students in fear  so they would be forced into a sexual relationship with them.”

The tip line is a “Student Concern form” on the high school web site, said Sabrina Kapp, the district’s director of communications. The web page offers a Google form that anyone can fill out to report a concern, she said.

Kapp said she was uncertain whether Stewart remained a student at the school but added he has not attended classes since the allegations were made.

Plainfield Police Department Officer John Endsley said during an investigation in August that Stewart had been accused of “threatening, intimidating and harassing young female students in his classes to engage in sexual activity with him” over the past year to year and a half, the affidavit said.

Endsley is the resource officer at the high school, said Capt. Jill Lees of Plainfield police.

Stewart was arrested Sept. 6 and placed in the Hendricks County Jail, said Capt. Amanda Goings with the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office. He was released Sept. 7 on a $5,000 cash bond after an initial hearing.

Online records show a pretrial hearing was set for Nov. 14 and a jury trial was set for Dec. 10 in Hendricks Superior Court 5.

The Plainfield school district issued a statement Tuesday:
