Police arrest burglar suspect after resident finds him hiding in home

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Columbus police say a man is in custody after a resident found them hiding inside their apartment Wednesday night.

According to police, they received a report in regard to a burglary in the 1500 block of 28th Street around 11:45 p.m.

When police arrived they found the resident holding the burglary suspect, Adrien Hawksworth, 25, down in an upstairs bedroom. Hawksworth was then taken into custody.

The resident told officers that when he came home he noticed a bicycle he had never seen before near his front door. He said when he walked inside he noticed his downstairs wasn’t the way he left it. The resident said a shot time later he found Hawksworth hiding in a bedroom closet upstairs. He said he stopped Hawksworth from escaping out of the bedroom window then held him down after Hawksworth attempted to punch him.

Hawksworth was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of burglary and possession of a legend drug injection device.
