Police corral hundreds of rowdy teens at NW side party

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police broke up a large crowd of unruly teens on the northwest side of Indianapolis Saturday.

There were reports of gunshots, at least one fight and a police cruiser was vandalized, according to IMPD.

Hundreds of unsupervised teens reportedly gathered Saturday evening at Skateland skating rink at 38th Street and North High School Road. Police said word of the party had spread quickly on social media earlier in the day.

The skating rink started turning people away after it filled to capacity.

Police were called and initially struggled to get the teens to cooperate.

IMPD said someone threw a rock at a police cruiser, shattering its windshield.

Many of the kids ended up across the street at Dollar General, where police were concerned about looting.

Officers eventually got the situation under control.

No injuries were reported and nobody was arrested.
