Police ID man shot by ex-girlfriend
SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) – Detectives have released the name of a man who police say was shot and killed after he tried to force his way into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment.
It happened early Wednesday morning at an apartment complex on West 25th Street. Police received a 911 call from a woman who said her ex-boyfriend had kicked in her door and she had shot him.
Police arrived and found the man, identified as 34-year-old Anthony Santura Smith, unresponsive on the floor. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Marion County Coroner said on Thursday that Smith died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Speedway police say Smith had not lived in Indianapolis for very long. He’s originally from Virginia.
