Police investigating after body found in trash at local business

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police are investigating after they found a body in the trash at a business Thursday morning.

According to dispatch, the body was found White River Recycling and Transfer, located at 200 South Harding Street.

When officers arrived, a worker told them they found an unresponsive body on a conveyor belt.

Police say the body is a 47-year-old white male.

They are waiting for the cause of death to determine if there was any foul play, but a preliminary investigation did not show any signs of trauma.

Police said homicide was called, but they are conducting a death investigation until the coroner reveals the cause of death.

This shocking discovery comes after a deadly Wednesday in Indianapolis. Homicide detectives were called to the 21st Street and Emerson Avenue after a man suffered several gunshot wounds. The victim would later die from his injures. Minutes after the shooting on 21st Street and Emerson Avenue, police were called to a shooting near 30th and Colorado, where a man was shot several times but he survived his injures.

Despite the shootings, representatives in Louisville are asking the Indianapolis Ten Point Coalition for help. Recently, Ten Point has been patrolling the Butler-Tarkington Area, Crown Hill and the United Northwest Area for almost a year.

During that timeline, there have been no murders in the Butler-Tarkington area in 11 months, there has been no murders in Crown Hill in 305 days and in United Northwest area a teen has not been killed in 323 days.

Louisville would like to duplicate Ten Point’s success.

“It makes us feel good that another city has been watching what we are doing,” said Rev. Charles Harrison.

Harrison credits IMPD, residents, and local business with helping to deter crime in those areas.

Representatives from Louisville will travel to Indy first, and then Ten Point will take a tour around Louisville and offer suggestions.
