Police: Lebanon pediatrician fondled 12-year-old patient

LEBANON, Ind. (WISH) — A Lebanon pediatrician has been arrested after being accused of fondling a 12-year-old patient.

The Lebanon Police Department arrested Dr. Jonathon Cavins in the case.

According to investigators, he fondled a 12-year-old boy during a physical examination on Feb. 4.

Detectives said “Dr. Cavins fondled the penis of the 12-year-old victim with the intent to arouse either his sexual desires or the sexual desires of the male victim.”

Police say the boy’s parents were not in the room at the time of the incident.

Word of the allegations spread fast through the community of Lebanon.

Melissa Sartin told News 8 she was disgusted after she heard the pediatrician for her twin 8-year-old boys was charged with molesting a child.

“My boys had seen him at one point and I would have never never imagined, I would have never guessed, it makes it even scarier. Doctors are supposed to be who we can trust our children with the most, it’s very scary,” said Sartin.

“I feel really sad for the child and the child’s parents. I just couldn’t even imagine if it was one of mine. I just couldn’t. Something needs to be done, justice needs to be done,” said Lebanon parent, Felicia Lee.

Cavins faces one count of child molestation, a level four felony.

The Lebanon Police Department says Cavins is being held in the Boone County Jail without bond.

He is expected in court sometime next week.
