Police: Man arrested for stabbing sister’s boyfriend in neck

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A suspect was arrested Saturday evening in connection with a man being stabbed in the throat on Saturday morning.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police arrested John Roberts, 26. Roberts faces possible charges of attempted murder, vehicle theft, theft and vandalism after stabbing a his sister’s boyfriend in the neck while he was sleeping.

Police originally responded to the 2200 block of Walnut Ridge Lane just after 8:35 a.m. on Saturday when a woman called dispatch saying her boyfriend had been stabbed in the neck.

Roberts fled the scene, taking with him a jar of money and vandalizing a car in the process.

The victim was in serious but stable condition and transported to Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital.

Roberts was taken into custody by a Johnson County deputy with the assistance of Whiteland police. He was spotted walking near a Loves Travel Center in the 5100 block of North 300 East in Whiteland. Police said Roberts was cooperative with police and told them the stolen Pontiac Grand AM had broken down along I-65.

The vehicle and bags inside the car were collected for evidence.

Roberts was transported back to Marion County and place in the Marion County Jail.
