Police: Man barricaded himself inside house with kids

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) – Police in Noblesville say a stand-off that began Wednesday night ended peacefully Thursday morning.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, it started as a crash. Deputies responded to the area of 160th Street near River Road around 10 p.m. after a witness reported seeing a man run from a crash into a utility pole, and then run into a home nearby.

Police say that home was in the 15600 block of River Road. When deputies arrived, the man – identified as 31-year-old Bryan S. Young – responded with a large knife. He’s also accused of threatening officers at the scene, according to an initial report.

According to officials, Young then went into the home and barricaded himself inside, where there were four children.

While a warrant was obtained for the house, negotiators arrived on scene. Around 2:45 a.m., police say Young said he would speak with officers through a rear window. Officers were able to breach a door near that window, and take Young into custody.

Young was taken to the Hamilton County Jail. He faces preliminary charges of leaving the scene of an accident and intimidation.
