Police: Man dies after speeding SUV jumps median, lands on pickup truck
SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) — A man died when a speeding vehicle jumped a median and landed on a pickup truck in Speedway on Sunday afternoon.
Speedway police said a man was driving a Dodge Durango SUV west on Crawfordsville Road near 22nd Street when he lost control. The Durango went airborne over a grassy median, landing on top of a pickup truck heading east on the same road, according to Speedway police.
The pickup truck driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, died of his injuries, police said.
After the collision, the Durango ran into a light pole and flipped onto its side. The driver was not injured. No one else was in the SUV.
Speedway police suspect the Durango driver was speeding. He will be tested for alcohol and drugs, but police don’t believe either played a role in the crash.
Neither driver has been identified.
