Police: Woman killed during domestic dispute

ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) — Anderson Police are investigating the death of an Anderson woman.

According to police, they were called to the 1100 block of North Scatterfield Road around 11 p.m. Monday. A male called police stating a woman had been shot at that location.

When police arrived they found James Brown, 60, on the front porch of the home. Police say he was emotionally distraught. Police located the body of Debbie Peak-Shell in the bedroom. She had a gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators, Brown and Peak-Shell may have been in an argument before the incident. Police believe Peak-Shell grabbed a gun from the bedroom closet during the argument. The two began to struggle over the gun. The gun discharged and a single gunshot struck Peak-Shell in the head.

No charges against Brown have been filed.

Four others were at home at the time. However, no one witnessed the shooting.

The case was under investigation by the Madison County Coroner and the Anderson Police.
