President Trump says Hoosier Korean War veteran’s remains identified
VERNON, Ind. (WISH) — President Trump says an Indiana man’s remains have finally been identified after he died in the Korean War.
Trump tweeted Thursday afternoon that Army Master Sgt. Charles H. McDaniel of Vernon, along with Army Pfc. William H. Jones of North Carolina, are the first American remains to be identified following his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
In August, News 8’s Eric Feldman spoke with McDaniel’s son. Charles McDaniel Jr. had just received his father’s dog tags.
“I had to stop several times just to catch my breath and cry … sobbing,” McDaniel said at the time.
