INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Summer means time outdoors. 

It’s an opportunity to enjoy some fun in the sun, whether it’s jumping in the pool, attending a barbeque or setting off some fireworks.

However, summer also means protecting oneself against the elements, such as the heat, mosquitoes and ticks.

Mary Kay Foster, the director of Special Pathogens Unit at IU Health, stopped by Daybreak on Wednesday.

She talked about tick bites, knowing what a tick looks like and the biggest risk of a tick bite: Lyme disease.
